Product description High School Dxd(Br(Le Amazon.com High School DxD began as a series of more than a dozen light novels written by Ichiei Ishibumi and illustrated by Miyama-Zero, which was followed by a manga adaptation, this animated series in 2012, and a video game. Issei Hyodo is an ordinary-seeming student at the Kuoh Academy, unaware that the student body includes fallen angels and devils. When one of the angels tries to kill him, he inadvertently summons Rias Gremory, a stacked devil of high rank who saves him. Rias makes Issei a devil and a minor member of the crew she uses to fight fallen angels, exorcists, and other foes. Underneath the theological mumbo-jumbo is a standard-issue jiggle series with a cast of stock characters: sweet nun Asia is the submissive, infantile blonde; Rias, the powerful, red-haired battle commander; Issei, the everyday student-hero. Issei supposedly possesses a noble heart and incredible latent powers that take the form of the Gauntlet of the Red Dragon Emperor. But he's also an underage lecher who literally slobbers over every female he sees. Director Tetsuya Yanagisawa and his crew fail to reconcile the discordant elements in Issei's nature, leaving a void at the center of the series. But fan service fans--the obvious and probably only audience for the series--don't care about plot, character development, or visual style, as long as there are panty shots, bare breasts, shower scenes, and double-entendres, which High School DxD provides in abundance. (Rated TV MA: violence, violence against women, profanity, extensive nudity, potentially offensive religious imagery, risqué humor) --Charles Solomon (0. Before Harem, 1. I Got a Girlfriend! 2.
